Ingredients:
- 1 pound beef or chicken, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Heat some oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the onions and sauté until they're translucent and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Add in the garlic and ginger and cook for another minute or two.
- Add in the turmeric and chili powder and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

- Mix in the tomato paste, soy sauce, and sweet soy sauce. Stir everything together until the meat is coated.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the meat is fully cooked and tender. If the sauce is too thick, add a little water to thin it out.
- Season with salt and pepper to your taste.
- Serve with rice and enjoy!
